WiMAX trial delivers ubiquitous wireless broadband for Dublin City University
Dublin City University students and staff are getting the chance to trial extremely high-speed 6 Mbps wireless broadband services over WiMAX, following an infrastructure rollout by AirSpeed Telecom on the campus. The DCU Network Manager James Healey said the 60-person trial group have responded very favourably to the trial, which makes it easier to access wireless broadband in outdoor areas, compared to WiFi, and allows connectivity in areas immediately surrounding the campus.

Rollout of new licensed wireless connectivity has given North County Dublin businesses their first reliable, high-performance broadband services. Fresh produce wholesalers Donnelly Fruit and Veg in St. Margaret's and Country Crest in Lusk are two of the first organisations to use licensed wireless services in the region following extension of the AirSpeed Telecom network into the area.
