The ticking clock of IPv4 has just about run down: address exhaustion is expected by late 2011 (or even earlier). Recently I've been tracking industry preparations for IPv6, with its prospect of nearly limitless addressing.

This independent study is a must-read for Juniper-based networks, examining how well the Juniper OS transitions an existing IPv4 infrastructure to IPv6, using IP/MPLS transport. See too Juniper's hefty slidedeck, comparing IPv4 and IPv6.

The entry continues to be updated, and the section on IPv6 readiness and barriers to adoption makes interesting reading. A useful background of the protocol and its abilities.
